How We Can Help

Bereavement Program

  • Trained Hospice volunteers provide face-to-face support and/or phone support.
  • Our extensive library of books and videos is available during our office hours.

Hospice Services

  • Palliative Home Program
  • Volunteers provide face-to-face emotional support and information
  • Partners with Home Care Nursing, Home Support Workers, Cowichan District Hospital, Canadian Mental Health, and Family Life.

Palliative Hospital Programcowichan hospice - how we can help

  • Volunteer coordinators and volunteers visit and support palliative patients and their families at Cowichan District Hospital, daily.
  • Hospice Tranquility garden on the third floor at Cowichan District Hospital

Groups

  • Grief reflections group
  • Suicide bereavement group
  • Hospice walking group

Spiritual Care

  • Hospice volunteers offer non-denominational emotional and spiritual care
  • Referrals to community churches, temples and other sources of spiritual supportcowichan hospice - how we can help

Wellness Treatments

  • Bi-weekly wellness clinic offering reiki, therapeutic touch etc.
  • Private treatments

Lending Library

  • Extensive library available to the public during office hours, includes information on care-giving, the palliative journey, grief support, picture books for children

Public Education

  • Hospice staff and volunteers are available to speak to community groups on our services and other topics related to death and grief
  • Advanced care planning workshops
